International Sami Film Institute with partners Film Greenland – FILM GL, Nunavut Film Development Corporation and York University Canada, initiates a series of Indigenous Arctic Ghost/Myth stories. The series will be 30 min x 5.
Indigenous peoples have a a strong oral storytelling tradition with stories and mythical characters from ancient times. This is an excellent base for a series for international audiences. Arctic Chills will present stories and characters never seen on screen before and bring audiences into ice-cold landscapes on the edges of survival.
Indigenous oral storytelling has been important for survival in the harsh Arctic environment throughout times and the stories are always closely woven into the landscapes and human survival. The borderline between the spiritual/mythical universe and the reality are where these stories unfold. These stories have an ancient wisdom that will enchant audiences all around the world.
